John T. Smith (age 58) was born in a major urban U.S. city; yet reared in a small rural setting which taught him a responsible work ethic and reasons to respect the value of life. He has been married for thirty- four years. Mr. Smith has five children, four daughters and one son (deceased). He is a retired school teacher with a documented record of success with many students. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and several accredited post graduate master teacher awards and certificates.

Mr. Smith is certified in leadership training and mentoring by the National Science Foundation Leadership Training Program, and its Summer Institute and Mentor Program.
